For the rest of my life I‘ll be scared
Yet I thought that the battle was over
Looking straight ahead new hope I did see
Than it hit me from over my shoulder!
I tried desperately for traction to gain
But the force just spun me around
Bits of gravel in every direction
My but landed on the ground!
As I tried to rise up I realized
My life would not be the same
My left ankle was now throbbing
With a deep & ominous pain
Who dare cause this brutal attack?
I had done nothing wrong
Only out on a hunt for dinosaur tracks
Just inquisitively strolling along
What ensued was a seven hour surgery
To put together all that was broken
Then a full year of depending on others
Then another year down…no small token
When I look at the scars on my ankle
I’m tempted to think- Oh poor me
Yet I usually can walk with barely a limp
Only few pounds added you see
We now have a house on one level
‘Cause quite a problem our old stairs became
Climbing backwards like a 3 leg spider
Thus rendering me quite lame
I’m learning to look on the bright side
I could still be in my wheel chair
Could have fallen clean off that slippery huge rock
To my death… or much more despair!
