Snowed In
Wafting twirling
Falling swirling
To the frozen ground
Delicate with whimsey
Can’t be captured
As they float around
Reach out my hand
They dodge my touch
With freedom have a will
From whence they came
To where they go
I love to watch them still

Home for Christmas
We’ll all be home for Christmas
That is- at our new address…
Cuz we’ve moved across the country
To Maryland we must confess
❈ ❈ ❈
We miss our family and friends
Especially our kids all grown
So we’ll try and get a picture up
As soon as they come home
❈ ❈ ❈
But until then- don’t drop us
From your address list
Cuz it’s a little lonely out here
So we hope you get the gist
❈ ❈ ❈
Of this poem- so off the cuff
Sounding trite- yet most sincere
To wish you a Merry Christmas
And a very happy New Year!

Love and Worth
It never hit home till I was a young mom
And I went to a woman’s retreat
I heard there a speaker who was quite the scholar
A poignant message- she would repeat
.
She set us in a picture
With our children in the room
And asked “What would be your reaction if you knew
Your sick child would be dying soon?”
.
Tears welled up in my eyes
No God! Let me die instead!
He’s much too precious to loose his life
I’d rather be the one that’s dead!
.
God taught me about myself
And what love really is
My worth He knew- cuz He was my parent
He gave His life- so I could live!
.
I knew I loved my child gobs
So much- seemed my heart would just burst
Yet compared to God’s love- just a faction
So what did this tell me of worth?
……..
Wait! Don’t go away! There’s more
A story transcending childbirth
One that Jesus told while He was here
To help us understand our worth
.
The story is of a merchant
Looking for precious pearls
In his search- found one of great value
Now here’s where the plot unfurls
.
HE went away and sold all He had
Because He knew the pearls worth
He gave all He had for what He saw
In this treasure once buried in earth
.
I am the one who’s the treasured pearl
It’s worth that He saw deep in me
For me He gave all that He ever had
His life through eternity!
.
I’ve always been taught I should give all I have
Cuz God is the one to be treasured
What good I ask… To give all of naught?
Of emptiness… Nothing to measure?
.
This whole concept struck a chord in me
And put my heart into action
That weekend the start of something brand new
My feet having now much more traction
.
This story was my key
For a worthwhile life to live
I’ll give all I have for the rest of my days
cuz now I have something to give!

Christ’s Object Lessons, Page 118
The parable of the merchantman seeking goodly pearls has a double significance: it applies not only to men as seeking the kingdom of heaven, but to Christ as seeking His lost inheritance. Christ, the heavenly merchantman seeking goodly pearls, saw in lost humanity the pearl of price. In man, defiled and ruined by sin, He saw the possibilities of redemption. Hearts that have been the battleground of the conflict with Satan, and that have been rescued by the power of love, are more precious to the Redeemer than are those who have never fallen. God looked upon humanity, not as vile and worthless; He looked upon it in Christ, saw it as it might become through redeeming love. He collected all the riches of the universe, and laid them down in order to buy the pearl. And Jesus, having found it, resets it in His own diadem. “For they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon His land.” Zech. 9:16. “They shall be Mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels.” Mal. 3:17.

Where-with-all
If a picture’s worth 1000 words
Than the oposite must also be true
Cuz some of our brains work differently
But don’t let my words bother you
.
I think- a word’s worth 1000 pictures
In my mind’s eye- that’s certainly true
Just one word and images build
Day dreamin’s what I tend to do
.
So- if life is a pressure cooker
Then my billowing thoughts must be steam
Soaring throughout the the stillness of air
Much like an espresso machine
.
Last week the word “where-with-all” came bursting forth
When I had none… so I thought
Yet I hadn’t heard those words saied- since I was a kid
My mom use to use them a lot…
.
I’ve heard it said wisdom is what you get
When you don’t get what you want
But I never really knew what I wanted in life
Till I already liked what I got!
.
Maybe what I’m getting is “where-with-all”
A confidence and resolve to finish
A work God started a long time ago
I know now… that He will accomplish!

My Mac Book Pro
My Mac Book Pro
Handicaps have set me a reeling
Seems my learning style is all mucked
If I cannot live up to the plan here
I mine as well give up!
“Put simply so you’ll understand it
Your brain has a processing problem
An abstract way of reasoning
Don’t worry we’ll get to the bottom”
They’ve called it slight dyslexia
An inability to read very well
I tried hard to focus upon each line
Yet the letters would not sit still
And with that came another
More- a dyslexia of thought
My ideas now all flying around
To one place how could they be brought?
So I gathered my thoughts onto paper
Who cares if my spellings a crock!
Yet here lied a much deeper problem
My notes seemed to always get lost!
But then I found a solution
In a surreal monitor screen
Yet let’s not to forget the brains inside
A duo processor so sleek & quite keen!!
Its accessible memory was better than mine
For a hard drive it did contain
No longer having to try so hard
I now knew I was not insane!
Not only did it help me to focus
It spelled my wrong words right
The words not seeming to jump around
My thoughts being always in sight!
It also held in it great resource
Any questions? (With me there were lots)
I’d just google in some very choice words
And knowledge to me here was brought!
Oh how I miss my Mac Book Pro
My brain it was able to tap
We had become such an exultant team
Where e’r I went— it sat on my lap!

*Who Touched Me?
I know how she felt- just one face in the crowd
How could she catch His eye?
Important people all clamoring about
Little strength left- to try
.
The leaders now pushing their way to the front
To encounter this Man so divine
No matter how long she surveys an approach
She can’t find the end of the line
.
No way to catch His attention just now
She sneaks in- cowering close to the floor
Undetected- to touch the hem of His robe
Knowing she needs nothing more
.
Now she’s crawling through the loud throng
All standing on tip toes to see-
Then He asks the question- demands a hush
Tell me ——— “Who touched me?”
.
I’m wearing her warn out sandals
At the the back of the crowd I too stand
With a hope to bow at His feet
And see Earth’s scars in His hands
.
To touch that hem of His pure white robe
With tears streaming down- there’s no doubt
No one goes undetected by God
To touch- is what He’s all about
.

Where is the love?
Empathy caring love and compassion
The stuff that Jesus made plain
Proposing the cure for finger pointing
Or withholding for personal gain
And if money’s where the heart is
Ones sure to fall down hard
Cuz soon we’ll all be penniless
And just holding on to God
The great equalizer strikes at the end
Though sometimes he comes even sooner
And when ones left with nothing to hold
Life never has seemed harder
But it’s then that we can know
That the best things in life are free
And the present that makes this life a gift?
Involves a world much bigger than “me”
A tenderness shown through understanding
Sent down from heaven above
It’s then that we can truly know
It’s here that there is love
